The team at Computer Connection helped me out, with quick turn around, when my 2012 MacBook finally gave up the ghost. I had 2 incidents of the dreaded black screen, but no full back-up. I purchased a new MacBook at an Apple Store & was told that they wouldn't work to transfer data from my old to new Mac, as my old Mac was more than 5 years old. Additionally, they no longer sold the external drive, for the old Mac, that I'd need to do a TimeMachine full back-up.
I understood, but had no way to ensure the data transfer that I needed. I called Computer Connection; they said they'd take a look. In less than 24 hours, they had successfully transferred everything to my new Mac, resulting in virtually no downtime, given that my old MacBook had died the prior morning. They made my day & turned around what started as a VERY stressful Monday. Highly recommended.

I was about ready to throw my Dell laptop at the wall. Thankfully, I was able to take a deep breath, and take my computer to Computer Connection. They fixed my baby no problem! To start from the beginning, my laptop's spacebar wasn't working reliably. I opened the laptop and lo and behold, it wasn't the spacebar's fault - it was the battery, expanding like it was gonna explode!
Nothing like a ballooning lithium ion battery to brighten my day, right? So I set about trying to remove the battery. I have a laptop screw bit kit, thus I had the correct bits to attack each screw. Nevertheless, one of the screws securing the battery stripped. I tried to drill it out with my jeweler's flex shaft, to no avail. I was able to slide the battery out, but I was worried about installing a new one with that screw.
It was at this point that I wanted to hurl my computer. The screw wouldn't budge, the battery was threatening meltdown, and the interior of my laptop's body was polluted with dust. I calmed down and took my laptop to Computer Connection. Within a couple of days, they were able to remove the errant screw, order and install a new battery, and clean my computer's guts. One year later, my laptop still runs great! Thanks Computer Connection!

Brought in a two year old Lenovo laptop that was lightly used but out of warranty with a squeaky case and wrist rest that was making annoying noises on a constant basis. while warning me upfront that they couldn't correct design and build issues, they worked on my machine for a week and got it done. no more squeaks and rattles! Outstanding attention to detail and if I ever have a software related issue I won't hesitate to go back.

My Apple Mac mini's logic board died on me after the installation of the RAM by Computer Connection. I took it to an Apple Authorized repair service in San Rafael for diagnostic work, and they confirmed that the tech had installed the RAM chips incorrectly. They DID fit fine and the heat shield could have been re-installed if the RAM were properly installed.
I blew it by not going to an Apple Auth repair company to install the RAM I bought online, so the warranty was invalidated due to my ignorance. Apple would NOT replace the machine, nor could they even supply a new logic board for me to buy and install. So I was completely out of luck. And I was using this to teach via Zoom for UC Berkeley. I decided to make an appointment with the manager/owner of Computer Connection, Mike Eagen.
I met with Mike, told him what happened and left him all the documentation I had supporting what happened. That afternoon, Mike called, took FULL responsibility for the company's mistake and sent me a check to fully cover the cost of a new Mac mini, which I purchased the day I saw Mike. The fact that he handled this professionally was a complete surprise to me.
And I want to let Mike know how happy I was with the outcome. So my 1 star goes to a 5 star for Mike's backing his company and taking care of a customer to make him (me) whole again. Thanks Mike. Sincerely Mark

It really takes a while before I'll write a real bad review since I know about our responsibilities as a customer and reviewer and take those very serious. So I skipped a review a few years ago when we had trouble with a Mac and those guys messed up since this can happen. I know that since have been running a Apple Mac Store chain (Apple Premium Reseller) for centuries in my home country. That's also the reason I went this time to the guys just to add memories to a newly bought iMac.
I know these iMacs aren't easy to work with when it comes to adding memory since you have to take the whole inside out to get to the Memory Banks. Even a pro would at least need around 40min to make it happen. Since it's shelter in place and I did not wanted to mess around I called the guys before to check a) if there are available to troubled times like this and b) if they are able to make the memory exchange.
To both they said yes and so I bought the Mac to them right after I bought it. They claimed it would take an hour or maybe an hour and a half which sounds possible if you run into any problems. Three hours later I got a call that I can pickup the iMac. Cool I thought but the guys explained to me: we didn't put the memory in, In order to do that we would have to take the whole computer apart.
We can't do that. Wait? What? Duh! Unbelievable it's not that we live in the same block at all or just around the corner. So we have driven back and forth and a second time back and forth for nothing! They knew exactly what they had to do on the phone and even when they took the mac in! It's really a place I can not recommend this is the second time they messed up with a mac.
But a 81 y/o neighbor had a PC and she always felt that they handle her rude when she brings the laptop in. As much as we like to support small local business they still have to earn business and have their customer said and square. I don't see that here. So stay away!

I can't speak to the technical competence of Computer Connection's owner and employees (at a standard rate of $125 per hour, it should be good), but the customer service is among the worst I have experienced. The employees did not return multiple phone calls and the owner did not call me even after I visited the store and had one of the employees write the owner a note asking him to call me. Because of Computer Connection's poor customer service, I took my business elsewhere and was able to obtain the services I needed for a fraction of the cost.

Brilliant local computer & computer repair shop. There is a reason 99% of mom & pop electronics stores closed but this one is still open & has been for at least the last 20 years (that I can remember, probably longer honestly). Usually at local mom & pop computer stores they have a very limited selection of merchandise & services & prices are much higher than Best Buy or other big electronics stores.
This is not the case here. They literally have TONS of replacement & upgrade parts, OEM & aftermarket alike & competitive low prices. They also have Mac & PC laptops & Desktops for sale. The staff is SUPER knowledgeable & always gets me the correct part or service. I've never been upsold on something I did not need, in fact most of the time I end up being sold my merchandise for less than they list in the store! I mean this place is great! 5 stars all day.

Things did not start all that great but ended up fine, and I would go back. Their website indicates they will get back to you in one to two days, in my case it took six days and an unreturned phone call. But when they did call the problem had been solved and the price was very reasonable. I especially appreciated they fact they did not grouse when I opted against upgrading the processor and hard drive, since it is an old computer that sees minimal use. Asking somebody to fix a computer is a bit like trusting someone with a blank check, but in this case I feel they were both effective and fair. And presumably the delay was the result of a work backlog.

Computer Connection has been my go-to place for over 10 years and I am delighted with my purchase last week from Morgan. Time to update laptop and he helped me pick out the perfect Asus (my go-to brand). He does not "oversell" or "undersell"; he listed to my requirements and since I work from both home (with a larger monitor) and at client sites (on the laptop) I got one that was perfect for my needs. My third purchase and when the time arrives, I will be back for my 4th! Thanks Morgan!

These guys are great! I inadvertently deleted needed files (OS and registry) with my Malwarebytes program. Nothing worked any more. Nothing responded. Unable to restore or apply backup - with a 5-year-old DELL XPS 8300, I thought this was a message that it was time for a new PC. BUT: Brought it in here. Two days later I picked up what is, functionally, a new -smoothly running computer.
All data is intact! They took under two hours to do the work and additionally, replaced one of my two internal optical drives that I had given up on after another shop failed to solve the problem. No one needs a new computer here. They fix the problems you identify - and others that they discover along the way!

If I could show less than one star, I would. CC sent someone to fix a wireless connection problem. Not only didn't the person fix the problem, he was practically unintelligible, left a mess and I had to hire someone else to come and really fix the problem. On top of all that, the owner Mike, doesn't return phone calls or respond to emails.

They are the best and fixed my iMac when my hard drive crashed. The guys were able to retrieve and save all my data on the crashed hard drive and load it onto the new hard drive and install it in my iMac. I'm in the tech industry and I would have been "dead-in the-water" without them. Keep up the good work and thank you for getting me up and running again.

Places like this thrive on being experts and often dispense free advice in hope they earn your business immediately or at a later date. They deserve credit for that I am appreciative. To wit, per their recommendation, I spent $140 on a router with these guys where it was widely available for $80. Purchased in sept 2013. I was getting poor internet performance and the comcast repair guy took 1 second to look at my router and told me it was a 3 year old product and was the reason for the degradation in performance. Comcast swapped it out and performance tripled. Open to paying a premium for product and for the advice but then expect things to work as advised.

Last week our internet router decided to reset itself randomly and then changed it's IP address so our Windows computer from the dinosaur ages couldn't recognize its signal. For a small business where we use the internet for basically everything we found ourselves pretty screwed. We called to make an appointment for someone to come out to our office but they had a 3 day wait time until their next available appointment. Bummed but not surprised (since they in my opinion are the best around) we decided to wait.
Later that afternoon Karl gave us a call and said something along the lines of "I thought i'd give you a call since your internet is down and I know how hard that can be to work around. I have an opening in my schedule and could come out right now, if that works!" We were thrilled to say the least. He not only was at our office in less than 15 minutes but he showed up with a box of different routers and cables, he seemed prepared for anything.
Long story short, he resolved the problem with ease! He walked me through the process of what was wrong/happened and how he had fixed it. He even took the time to recreate our internet account information, check each computer to make sure the internet was working and he even made sure our wifi printer was connected and working as well. Karl has been our savior for the second time now.
Both times he came out to our office he was able to diagnose and solve the problem in less than two hours. He gives us advice on how to fix the problem incase it happens again, gives us feedback and keeps us updated on what he is seeing and working on AND will recommend or offer alternatives solutions to prevent future problems! We are extremely happy with computer connections and we highly recommend them!

I've been having CC fix my machines for the last 10 years. I've never been disappointed. There prices on hardware replacement parts are high but they let you buy somewhere else. I had them install a Samsung 840 1TB SSD I bought on sale at Amazon in place of an d drive and it took them less than an hour. Highly recommend.

I have brought a PC to Computer Connection several times over the last few years. Sometimes they tell me "it's not worth it to fix it". Sometimes they just fix it while I';m standing there. Today walked in my Toshiba laptop and the CTRL key top that I had removed because it was sticking because of dog hair. I had tried to replace the key on my own and failed.
I tried to follow the instructions i found online and failed again. I wrapped up the pieces and brought my hangdog look to Morgan at Computer Connection and said I was going down the way to Bistro Vis a Vis for lunch. He called while I was at lunch and said "I had it fixed 3 minutes after you left." I was afraid he wasn't going to charge me and since this was a HUGE value to me I demanded a charge.
He complied. I want to make sure that these guys stay around, not just tell me "you're a valued customer we appreciate your business" and I don't give them any business.' I left as a satisfied customer, as usual.

Today 01/29/2014. Contrary to other comments, they know a lot about computers and its not always about the money. I had malware on my tower yesterday. It was awful. Couldn't find a fix that didn't cost me money on the net. frustrated, I called my guys at CC. In 1 minute I was told of a free software that would take care of it. They could have said bring it in. NOPE! And I'm good to go. Exceeding my expectations as usual. WTG guys. This is why I come back. Not because they did this free. Because they treat me like a valued customer.

This place is a joke. I had them look at my computer because I thought it had a virus. I came by a few days later and it turns out it did (according to them). The man said he had been working on it for a few hours and he said it had a virus. They wanted around $180 to fix it so I simply got my laptop and left the store. They seemed VERY mad and angry that I didn't pay for their services.
I brought my computer elsewhere and it turns out it didn't have a virus. These guys at Computer Connection are a bunch of scammers. Stay far, far away from this place. UPDATE @Mike E: Or maybe I didn't have a virus in the first place? Maybe you just wanted my money? Or maybe you did remove the virus? That wouldn't make much sense though because I didn't authorize you to do that or pay for any such services.
