This term is in direct reference to the independent hardware support providers for networking hardware, post-warranty servers and storage hardware. Independence from the OEM creates natural cost-savings, flexibility and often better service for the clients of these providers. XSi provides independent data center storage hardware maintenance and support services for NetApp, IBM, Dell/EMC, HPE, Oracle/Sun/STK, Cisco and HDS (Hitachi Data Systems) to help lower data center cost (OpEx). NetApp storage hardware generally become available for lower-cost XSi maintenance following warranty expiration, or when the manufacturer provides End-of-Life (EoL) announcements. For these post-warranty NetApp storage assets, cost-savings typically run 60-80% lower than OEM pricing, without sacrifice to service quality.
