By addressing system settings, hard drive speeds, data rates, partitioning, RAM configuration, paging swap file setup, hardware upgrades, etc., I obtain permanent and significant improvement in speed performance and reliability. The cooling ventilation system can not be ignored and accumulated dust quickly turns into a birds nest-like sponge that blocks proper air flow, creating excessive heat, and slowing down the processor.
Older laptops must have the fan removed and lubricated or replaced as most always this has not been properly maintained. The amount of dust that accumulates inside a PC in a few years is astonishing and when the amount is sufficient it blocks air flow and allows heat buildup robbing components of power! A hot computer is a slow computer and one that will totally fail sooner than later. The fans wear out and make noticeable noise that increases with time. If you are lucky the expensive processor and hard drive with your data will survive the higher operating temperatures but often become damaged and need replaced.
