Data recovery is a very sensitive and complex process. The term "recovery" is used when data cannot simply be copied from a storage device, whether it is a hard drive, flash drive, camera memory card, floppy disc, or any other type of physical media. If the media is damaged, either physically (the hard drive platters are damaged, or the read/write head is broken), or logically (the "directory" or file-map is damaged or missing) then a simple data transfer will not work.This term also applies to cases where certain files have been deleted, and must be "undeleted" (restored) from the disk in question.

Just a note on how helpful, "Jeffy, " was. I have a mid 2012 iMac, which is one of the best systems I've ever had and I've been a Mac user since my first LCII, in probably 1992. When Lapin had a shop here in evanston, I had this 2012 machine significantly serviced; and since then, as Mac users probably know, certain machine factors have gone out of date, incl. the Catalina OS.
In yet another effort to enhance this aging workhorse system, I just got a new Acer monitor, with a supposedly compatible 2560x1440 resolution, and I absolutely could not make it work with this veteran iMac. Something online said the right cable would fix this resolution issue. Skeptical, and calling Lapin, I spoke to "Jeffy, " and he was able to sketch for me the machine reasons a new cable might work, why it might not, and to project for me the potential of success.
Important to keep in mind that Lapin has a phone-support fee-schedule, and I said upfront I would be happy to consider a consultation fee, but Jeffy never referred to the subject again. As Jeffy specified the kind of cable yesterday, I got it from Amazon today, and presto! It worked like a charm. This store knows what they're talking about, I can speak from several transactions and experiences. Prices are reasonable, and their knowledge base unimpeachable.

Jett and his team are WORLD. CLASS. PERIOD. I brought my iMac in after I was unable to fix it myself. While Jett had my computer, I was continuously updated on the status by text and email. The repair took a little over 2 weeks only because they ran into an issue with a part they had ordered. Because of the delay, they offered to upgrade the part and install the OS to my machine at no additional cost. *MIND BLOWN* Y'all.my computer is so freaking fast now! It's so nice to have a place that you can trust with your most sensitive electronics.

Been a customer to service my Mac products for some time. The team over at Lapin Systems is fantastic! I brought in my Macbook after a major coffee-spill emergency. I was able to get an appointment right away, and the team was able to walk me through the process and make me feel comfortable. The repair only took a couple of days and they were super communicative throughout so that I always knew the status of my device. They were also awesome enough to help me back up my files, which, to someone who's not very tech-savy is a LIFESAVER.

I have to commend the team at Lapin. They provide professional service and are extremely prompt with e-mail responses. I primarily worked with Jeff. He's clearly a highly qualified technician and his customer service is equally great. I'm glad that I haven't needed Lapin up to now, as I mostly self-serve for Mac issues, but for hardware issues that are not user-serviceable, I'll definitely use them again.

I normally don't write reviews but I have to say I was amazed by the excellent service and expertise at Lapin Systems. Due to an unfortunate accident I brought my Macbook in with only about 1 day remaining on the warranty and Lapin didn't hesitate to assure me they would try their best to bill everything before Apple stopped the clock. And they followed through immediately, even though two repairs were needed. Now my Macbook is running like new and I didn't have to pay out-of-pocket at all. Thanks Lapin for all your help!

Don't waste time going to an Apple Store when you have Lapin available. They're able to answer any question and fix any issue with quick turnaround time. Really pleased with the work they did on my laptop's hard drive. They recovered everything! I'll definitely be back with my next problem. Clean and neat facilities with a small and knowledgeable staff.
